RoughNeX had hoped to be on their way to the Winner's Bracket final but did not count being defeated by a very strong performance by Infested which has sent them down to the Loser's Bracket. This quarter final match was extremely close, and was arguably the best match that has occured on stream so far. Infested now move on to the next round of the Winner's Bracket. Team Line-ups RoughNeX Dan Kn1bber Jacko Lewis Infested Wilzo Cookie Shizzle Nexy Bootleg CTFRoughNeX 3-1 Infested RoughNeX started Bootleg extremely well, a strong 2 piece by Dan opened up the way for a cap within 1 minute. Kills were more or less traded throughout the rest of the half, a few flag pulls but nothing really sticking. Infested did manage to get a cap back to make it 1-1 at half time. The 2nd half started off quite even, with no team wanting to commit everyone forward due to the nature of the draw. RoughNeX did begin to take hold of the game and were able to run home 2 flags with no reply. Lockdown S&DRoughNeX 4-2 Infested RoughNeX again started strong and never really looked like losing this map with this summed up by Lewis having a great S&D, motoring to 8 kills early on. RNX's setups on defense especially were solid, with there being no real inspiration from any of the Infested players. Nexy had a poor game by his standards, dropping a 1-6 with his 1 kill only coming in the 2nd last round. On the other hand, Dan finished without any kills on 0-3 yet his team still managed to win mainly due to Lewis' kills. Dome CTFRoughNeX 3-3 InfestedStopwatchRoughNeX 0-1 Infested Contrary to the last CTF Infested started this CTF the stronger, and managed to capture 1 flag very quickly into the game. The lead didn't last for long however as RoughNeX did what they always do and moved up the gears ever so slightly, capturing a flag of their own to make it 1-1 at half time with Knibber going big with 16 kills. Infested started the second half as they started the first, on the ascendency. An amazing 3 piece by Wilzo allowed Cookie to pull the flag away and get a cap early into the second half for Infested to make it 2-1. A stalemate occurred for around 30 seconds, until Nexy snuck round the back and managed to drop Knibber in the back and return the flag which allowed Infested to cap to make it 3-1. An impressive period of play then occurred as RoughNeX moved to another level, with Lewis and then Dan capping flags in quick succession on the relay to bring the game back to a 3-3 draw with around 30 seconds left. Infested nearly had the last laugh, with Nexy pulling the flag with only 15 seconds left. Some well-timed stuns and misfortune ensured he didn't cap the flag, a matter of milliseconds separating a draw and a win. The stopwatch was a very slow game, with no team wanting to throw away this map as it was so key. No team really tried to pull the others flag, and as such there were no real opportunities for one team to cap a flag. This lasted for the rest of the half leading to a golden cap situation in the second half. With RNX almost capping the flag in the second half Wilzo had to be at his best to pull the flag away and allow his team to regroup and push to return their flag. This worked wonders as after successive kills on RNX flag carriers they were able to cap the flag and take the map. Seatown S&DRoughNeX 3-4 Infested Close rounds throughout this S&D, with RoughNeX just edging it over the course of the map. Infested started to play better over the later rounds, bringing it back to 3-3 and being able to defend on the last round. Wilzo goes massive in the last round, with 3 quick kills in the decisive round followed up by a kill by Shizzle to win the map. CTF ArkadenRoughNeX 3-4 Infested A strong start from RNX gave them a 1-0 lead around 1 minute and a half into the map though the lead wasn't to last for long as some great play by Wilzo and Cookie gave Infested a cap to bring them back into the game. The tides had certainly turned, with Nexy now running the show after some dissappointing S&D's, getting himself a brilliant 2 piece to put RNX 4 down and pull the flag away. Lewis very nearly clutched whilst on Infested's flag however he didn't manage to kill the flag carrier and Infested capped to take a 2-1 lead into the second half. RoughNeX wouldn't have expected to be 2-1 down at half time in the last map so had a deal of work to do to get back in the game. Within 1 minute however it looked as though they were in the process of getting it done, with a cap to bring it back to 2-2. Nexy again went clutch, killing Jacko on the flag when he had pulled and capping to put Infested back in the lead. This match continued to throw up twists though as it was Dan's chance to go clutch, grabbing the flag after good work by Lewis. Dan was able to keep his head down and cap the flag with what people would have thought may have been the last cap of the game. Infected scoffed at this and continued to push, a tactic which paid dividends as with 20 seconds left they were able to cap the final flag and send RoughNeX crashing down into the Loser's Bracket. This was a major upset as no-one really expected RoughNeX to lose at LAN as they appear to be on another level to the majority of the other teams. This was RoughNeX's first knockout stage loss on MW3, a fantastic accomplishment for an Infested team who only formed a week or so before the event. We'll leave you with this image, which encapsulates all of the feelings that will be going aroung the Infested camp.
