New Concept: ODC Pickup Teams

Over the past week EUeSports has been revitalised after providing a fairly lacklustre service these past number of months. Other than doing our jobs, we as staff, have also been thinking outside the box at different ways in which we can improve EUeSports. One of those underlying issues which we have had is the difficulty of finding a team for free agents, especially those who have signed up to the forum oblivious to the community.

To counter the current issue with free agents we have came up with a new concept which will be introducing 'ODC pickup teams'. Basically this is the idea around it:

• Every day an additional 'pickup signup' thread will be created where members will be asked to leave their psn, preferred role and a contact detail. (This is solely open to F/As)
• While on the ODC bracket there will be 4 spots reserved for these pickup teams.
• Additionally I'll be asking more familiar members on EUeS to captain these sides and offer them guidance. Therefore the team will be Captain + 3 Pickups.

Whether or not this will work I'm not sure so I'll be looking for constructive criticism regarding the project and I'll be running it on a trial basis, providing there is demand for it and it is useful then it will become more permanent. Hopefully we'll have the following outcomes:

• The F/As playing together may potentially create a team.
• By having veteran members captaining the teams they'll be able to offer guidance and advice. If they get along then maybe this will continue outside of the game.
• Players signing up to EUeS who are unknown will have a great opportunity to get involved and meet new players.
• This should also help bridge the gap between top players and new members creating more of a community feel.

This will be beginning next Monday and will run on each of the ODC days so I'll also be looking for some players to captain the sides. Anyone can captain the sides although I'd prefer to have members who have been on EUeSports for at least a few months and have good knowledge of both EUeSports as well as MW3. Anybody who is interested in lending a hand could you please either post on this thread, PM me or message me on skype (markdsmyth).

Balzan this is a completely new idea that hasn't been done before. Previous F/A cups consisted of 60 odd players signing up and being mixed into different teams.

EUeS ODC only runs Mon - Thurs and I thought this would be a good addition alongside that for newer members to have an opportunity to play.

I'll captain a team maybe one day if required. Big believer in ODC Pickup teams / F/A ODCs creating teams as playing and winning one of those helped create my EGL 4 team. Would be fun playing with a team of F/As against another team with @Unearthly as captain.

I don't mind captaining a Team occassionally,

Ok just a few things from what I've read in the replies.

First thing is that players aren't being split into different nations, it will simply be done by which role they play. Although I will ask players to put down their primary language and if there is enough then I'll put them together if they'd prefer that along with a dutch captain or what not.

I'm off on holiday on the early hours of Sunday morning so I can't run this all myself, I'll be asking another member of staff just to put the threads out and for the ODC admins to reserve a few spots each day for the F/A teams.


Right now what I'd like if possible is if everybody who has nominated themselves to be a captain if they could put down any days they know they'll 100% be available and then I can start to build a schedule around that. (If you speak another language such as dutch then try and do it a different day from any other dutch players)
